I must say that this is probably the first time i am going to write a blog about something other than my kids/family besides my "random ramblings" but i wanted to write about something a little different today.
I don’t know how many of you have seen the movie "Fireproof" but my Hubby and I Love this movie and recommend it to anyone! We are nuts over the thing! I think its not only a good movie for marriages but also for believers and non-believers. In my opinion the movie put a good view on how some real life marriages are and how some realistic marriages and lifes are. Even as Christians we mess up... We fall to the way of the world. This movie shows not only how a marriage can be changed through God when you walk w/ him and not with out but same in your Christian walk. We have the Movie, we have both of the Bible Studies, and we have the book "Fireproof Your Life" book. We are very excited to be starting the Fireproof Marriage Bible study on Tues. We feel this will be good for our marriage, not because our marriage is "in trouble, b/c its not but to help prepare our marriage for when "fires" to happen... which we all know they will. We have been praying about this study for a while and had a huge desire to participate in this study and God has provided us a way and we are very excited!
We recently got the book i was talking about, "Fireproof Your Life", which is about Building a faith that survives the flames. I must say i just started reading this book and have already learned so much and learned a new perspective on things, and of course learning how to survive the fires that will be in my life. I wanted to share a few things that i have learned and what has really touched me through these few chapters i have read so far.
The 1st thing is in Chapter 1 which is titled "Standing in the Fire". This hit me pretty hard when reading it the other night... It actually brought tears to my eyes . Here is what it says...
" Many of us have been bruised, hurt, and burned by life. The scars run deep. We're often blindsided by something that reminds us of that painful experience, but THROUGH THE POWER OF THE SPIRT WE CAN LEARN TO ENDURE AND BE ENABLED TO STAND. ...."
Those 3 sentences hit me hard. Its so funny how God works. He know what we need, and when we need it before we even have a clean. When I read those sentences the 1st thing i thought of what my recent Miscarriage. It def. bruised my hear, and hurt like nothing before. I was and still am reminded from time to time of that pain... BUT Through the Power of the Spirit i was able to stand and make it through it. I know to some people a one time miscarriage might not seem like much, but to me it was a lot. And these few sentences helped remind me that with God I can over come any kind of bruising. hurt, and burns. It helped me want to seek him more.
In the same chapter, something that really touched me was, "As believers, if we find our roots in Christ, we can stand up to the winds of adversity no matter how strong they blow". -WOW
Chapter 2 had this in there that had my wheels a turning too.. "If i want to fireproof my life, i must be open to constructive criticism, suggestions and insight from other believers. If im not teachable, Ill loose my footing at some point on my journey". -This touched me because i tend to get my feelings hurt easily, so to me it was telling me to accept Constructive criticism, and let other believers around me help me grow in the Lord. Which is a desire of mine.
Another thing in the same chapter was " If a person does not make the Word of God his guide, the Way of God his aim, and the Will of God his one desire, they will always be susceptible to failure". WOW
In Chapter 3 this is one thing that really touched me "Faith, according to Hebrews, is " the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen" (11:1)".
"Faith is the starting point on the road to obedience. It is our foundation and sustaining strength in the storms of life". We have to Know and Believe that God is in control. No matter what we hear or see we know God has a better plan for our life than we could ever even imagine. For example, During times of job loss, we have to know that God is still with us and know and have faith that he is going to provide and take care of us. This isnt always easy to do but we need to have Faith.
And this " There may be a time when its hard to find God in your fire, but you can always trust He is there"!! How awesome is that? No matter what God is always with us, leading us and guiding us. He will never leave or forsake us!
These were just some of the many things this book is reminding me and teaching me! I hope i didnt bore you with my new post but this was something i really wanted to write about and something i really want to remember!
